Omenkit opened his eyes and blinked blearily.
Darkkit woke with a start... "It was only a dream..." he mewed recalling the cat Jayfeather who he had seen in his dream.
The day before Darkkit had seen a butterfly with flashkit and pretended it was an omen... When Fireberry praised him he KNEW he wanted to be a medicine cat apprentice to Frostneedle. That same night a cat named Jayfeather had appeared in a dream and said "The flashing lights will blind the clan, and darkness will bring them home." Jayfeather had explained Flashkit's ambition to rise above the rest and how Darkkit and Omenkit must rise before him in order to save the clans...

Darkstripe padded to Tigerstar's side. "When you become an apprentice, you can become an apprentice here as well. you can be the first. Think about it like this," Darkstripe slowly stalked forward, his eyes gleaming and his teeth bared in ambition. He put his muzzle next to Flashkit's ear. " you will have two mentors when your brothers will only have one." He chuckled and drew his head away.
"Now here is your side of the bargain." Tigerstar growled ominously. "You have to be better than your brothers because they are striving to become the leader and the medicine cat. YOU have to fix that."

'All that and more!" Tigerstar knew this apprentice would be unlike any other. His muscles rippled underneath his pelt as he stepped forward. His eyes gleamed as his gaze bore down on Flashkit. "You might even have the power to become leader of your clan. Of ALL the clans... maybe even better than your brother..." He gazed at Flashkit, knowing that he had caught the young cat's attention.
